Wanda Lou (Carpenter) Richardson, 89, of Hillsboro went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 22, 2021.
Wanda was born in DeKalb, Texas, during the height of the depression to Admiral Dewey Carpenter and Mona Ona Gamble. She met George Washington (GW or “Dub”) Richardson in Lamesa, Texas, when both of their families were there in the Labor Camp during Ward War II working in the egg plant that supported the troops overseas. They fell in love and were married on June 28, 1947, and moved shortly thereafter to the Four Corners area of Farmington, NM, in the early 1960’s. They finally settled in the west Texas town of Denver City where Dub was able to start his own trucking business. After he retired in about 1983, they settled in Hill County in the community of Peoria, TX, close to where Dub was born in 1928. They were married for 74 years.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerry Wayne Richardson; sisters, Joyce and Patricia; brother, James; and a granddaughter, Rhonda Lynn Cleveland Manning.
Survivors include her husband, GW “Dub” Richardson; daughter, Wanda Ann Richardson Moriarty and husband, John, of Richards; son, Royce Gene Richardson and wife, Dawn, of Southlake; daughter-in-law, Ann Richardson of Ovalo; sister, Jo and brothers, Carl and Lloyd, all of Independence, MO; seven grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Wanda will forever be remembered by those who knew her as a kind-hearted soul who would help anyone in need.
