Wanda Tinkey, 78, of Hillsboro passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Her family will honor her memory with a family gathering.
Wanda was born August 24, 1936 in Ravia, Oklahoma to William Denzil and Eva Vernice (Gastineau) Cantrell. It was there she grew up and attended school. After school, she was a dedicated stay-at-home mother, raising her family before later entering the workforce. Among other jobs, she worked for Mansfield Tire and Gorman Rupp Credit Unions as a bookkeeper.
In 1982, she moved to Waxahachie where she worked in banking. Her husband, Philip Gordon Tinkey, preceded her in death on July 25, 2003. She later moved to Hillsboro in December of 2012. Wanda’s many interests included sewing for her family and friends, craft work and painting. She loved to make detailed handmade Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, Doris Joe Cantrell, and a sister, Debbie Cantrell. She is survived by five children, Brenda Kasper of Ohio, William Louria and wife, Tammy, of Waxahachie, Michelle Wimpress and husband, Doug, of Virginia, Edward Louria and wife, Deb, of Arizona, and Derek Tinkey and wife, Stephanie, of Hillsboro; two sisters, Nita Acre of Waxahachie and Eva Bearden and husband, Charlie, of Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren, Emily, Julie, Melanie, Kane, Cori, Angela, Edward, Melissa, Nicole, Colton, Katelyn, Seth and Chelsea; and eight great-grandchildren.
