Wanda Hartis Ward, 88, of Aquilla, passed away on February 25, 2019 in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with David Snipes officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the funeral home.
Wanda was born in Aquilla, Texas, on October 24, 1930, to Edgar and Grace (Gregory) Hartis and grew up in the Aquilla area of Hill County where she attended school. On November 20, 1950, she was united in marriage with A.C. Ward and he preceded her in death on February 7, 1992. For 10 years she worked as a supervisor at Sprayberry Handbags in Laguna Park and then for the remainder of her life she was a homemaker. Living on the river, she enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, working in her yard and picking up pecans as well as quilting and crocheting. She also enjoyed watching game shows, especially “The Price is Right” and “Wheel of Fortune” as well as playing all types of games. Wanda was of the Methodist faith.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; 2 sons, Johnny Ward and Eddie Ward and an infant brother, Joe Hartis.
Survivors include daughters-in-law, Becky Ward and Melinda Ward; four grandchildren, Shawn Ward and wife, Pamela, Kim Montgomery and husband, Craig, Melissa McKee and husband, Cory and Laura Ward and husband, Wayne; seven great-grandchildren, Micha Ward, Reagan Montgomery, Avril Ward, Jaxon Montgomery, Kynnadi Seely, Madison Seely, and Taylor Seely; sisters, Velma Jane McGee and husband, Ronald, Patsy Ruth Williams, Glenda Gerik, and Linda Karlik and husband, Patrick; a brother, Jacky Hartis and wife, Patricia; an aunt, Gladys McDaniels; and numerous nieces and nephews.
