Warner Poston, age 80, formerly of Woodbury, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017, in Arlington. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 6, at the Old Woodbury Cemetery near Woodbury. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 PM, Sunday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Born on June 19, 1937, in Hillsboro, Warner was the son of Thomas Ray and Betty Jane (Butcher) Poston. For most of his life, he lived in Hill County and many of those years were in Woodbury. On December 6, 1957, he and Barbara Ann May were united in marriage in Hillsboro. Following their wedding, the couple lived in Hillsboro until building their country dream home in Woodbury that they affectionately called “Lazy Acres”.
Warner was employed as a lathe operator for 25 years at Certainteed Products. He later worked as an inspector for Cercon Casting until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the Woodbury Baptist Church.Warner enjoyed the simple things in life such as watching old movies, going dancing, doing yardwork and mostly spending good times with family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Barbara; a sister, Sarah Poston; and two brothers, William T. “Bill” and Rudolph Poston. He is survived by three children, Robert W. Poston and wife, Carrie, of Arlington, David W. Poston and wife, Araceli, of Evant, and Holly Kemp and husband, Greg, of Arlington; six grandchildren, Brandie Lynn Daniels of Fort Worth, Robert Poston, Jr. of Azel, Laura Getty of Carrollton, Nolan Getty of Dallas, J. C. Horn of Waco and Lexi Poston of Evant; three great-grandchildren, Kamron and Damien Daniels and Jayda Poston; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
