Warren W. Ferguson, 89, of Mertens died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie. Warren was born September 13, 1920 in Brandon the son of Joseph Benjamin and Carrie Almedia Potter Ferguson. He lived in Hill county all of his life. On June 14, 1942 he married Carrie Jean Goodman in Hillsboro and they lived in Mertens most of their married life. He was a master welder and during his career he worked for Brown & Root and Lone Star Gas. A devoted citizen of Mertens, Warren was very dedicated to the First Baptist Church there, where he was a deacon. He was also a member of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge where he was the recipient of the Golden Trowel. Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Barbara Cockerham; three sisters, Azilea Allen, Millie Ashley, and Margaret Joe Smith; and three brothers, Emery, Lloyd and Noble Skeet Ferguson. Survivors include his wife, Carrie Jean Ferguson of Mertens; son, Glenn W. Ferguson and wife, Linda, of Bryan; four grandchildren, Greg and wife, Lorie, Ferguson of Bryan, Russ and wife, Tammy, Ferguson of Mont Belvieu, Jana and husband, Jerry, Burch of Mechanicsville, VA and Paul and wife, Ronda, Cockerham of Italy; 13 great-grandchildren, Shawn, Jarred and wife, Amanda, and Colby Ferguson; Sean and Josh Howell; Johnathan Warren, Jordan, Jillian, and Jacob Burch; Morgan, Taylor, Reagan, and Halee Cockerham; and two great-great grandchildren, Chadney and Chloe Ferguson.
