Wayne Bonds

Wayne C. Bonds, 93 of Coon Creek Community passed away on July 13, 2009. Wayne was born on February 8, 1916 in the Coon Creek Community in Bosque County, the son of the late Walter Pope and Ethel Vaughn Bonds. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked in the oil fields around Conroe and during this time he met and married Imogene Hoke on October 21, 1946. They moved back to the Coon Creek Community where he farmed until 1953 when they moved to Dallas and he went to work for Ford Motor Company for 17 years. They moved back to Coon Creek in 1980 when he retired. Wayne was a member of Towash Baptist Church in Whitney. Preceding him in death were his wife, Imogene on July 20, 2008; four brothers, Marshall, Pope Allen, Walter Marvin, Milton Bonds and sisters, Betty Ruth Hagman and Mattie Nell Boswell. Survivors include his children; Patricia Bonds of Cedar Hill, Karen Bonds of Arlington, Linda Hernandez of Dallas, Clarice McKelvey of Watauga, Johnny Bonds of Clifton, Charlie Bonds of Itasca; sister, Lola Eggen of Clifton; grandchildren, Kevin McKee, Jeannie Macias, Oliver McKee, Toni Hernandez, Michael Hernandez, Shell McKelvey, Jennifer Bonds, William Bonds, Justin Bonds and Sammy Bonds; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews..
