Wayne Buchanan passed away on February 18, 2025, at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest in Waco, Texas, at the age of 95. Born on June 4, 1929, in Merkel, Texas, Wayne was a pillar of strength and a beloved figure in his community and family. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
Wayne dedicated 31 remarkable years to his career at Lubbock Power and Light, where he contributed his skills and expertise, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were a testament to his character.
He was not only a dedicated employee but also a devoted family man. Wayne is survived by his daughter, Patsy Buchanan Waxler; bonus daughter, Shelly Hanke, and her husband, Lloyd Hanke; bonus son, David Bitner, and his wife, Connie. His legacy continues through his six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who cherished him deeply.
Wayne enjoyed many hobbies and interests throughout his life. He found joy in traveling with his wife, Jane, in their RV, often accompanied by their beloved poodles. These trips created lasting memories for the couple and reflected their shared love for adventure and each other.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, as well as his wife of 43 years, Barbara Jane Buchanan, and one grandson, Larry Waxler. His passing leaves a void that will be felt by all who knew him, but his spirit and the legacy he built will continue to inspire those he loved.
Wayne Buchanan’s life was marked by love, dedication, and a profound sense of family. He will be remembered for his unwavering strength, generosity, and the happiness he brought to those around him. May he rest in peace.
