Wayne was born Feb. 8, 1957 in Cleburne to Edwin and Rachel McCool Kunkel. He graduated from Bynum High School in 1975. In 1977, he and Debbie Kimbrell were married in Hillsboro. They had three beautiful children. Wayne loved his family and friends and took great pride in his job as Public Works Director for the City of Whitney. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing with his wife, and he was passionate about wildlife. He is survived by his parents, Edwin and Rachel Kunkel of Bynum; his wife of 32 years, Debbie Kunkel of Whitney; his 3 children and granddaughter, Katrina Campbell and husband, Steve and their daughter, Kailey of Denton, Jonathan Kunkel and wife, Dusty of Wortham, and Kristin Goins and husband Traye of Baytown; three sisters, Kay Watson and husband, Billy of Bynum, Deborah McCurlie and husband, Sandy of Bynum, and Amelia Pena and husband, Rocio of Bynum; father and mother-in-law, J. B. and Louise Kimbell of Hillsboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Memorials: Texas Wildlife Association, 2800 N. E.
