Wayne Martin

Wayne Martin, 78, of Blum, passed away on October 21, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Scott Pelham officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the funeral home.

Wayne was born on January 5, 1940, in Hamilton, to Omer and Dorothy (Cantrell) Martin. He grew up in Hamilton and in his younger years he was a truck driver until he served in U.S. Army. In September of 1965 he met the love of his life, Tina Johnson, and three months later they married, a marriage that would last 52 years. After completing barber college, he owned and operated his own shop. During this time he also received his HVAC certification and private pilot’s license. In his retirement, he enjoyed ranching his own property as well as managing other ranches. In 1998, Wayne and Tina moved from Arlington to Whitney where he loved to fish, golf, hunt and work his property. He especially loved cooking for and being with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of the Whitney Fellowship Church.

He is preceded in death by five brothers, Richard, Kenneth, Jerry, Larry and Mike Martin.

Survivors include his wife, Tina Martin of Blum; daughters, Karen Lochridge of Blum, Nikki Walden-Peterson of Austin; brother, Bobby Martin of Arlington; grandchildren, Landon Lochridge, William Walden, Dawson Lochridge, and Rhea Peterson.
