Mr. Weldon Wilson, 88, of Lake Whitney, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at his residence.
Graveside services and burial for Mr. Wilson will be at 10 AM, Friday, October 19, 2012, at Hillscrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro with the Pastor Gerald Dudley of the Open Range Cowboy Church and Mr. Larry Riley of American Legion Post #522, officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 PM to 9 PM, Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Marshall and Marshall in Whitney.
Weldon was born on July 2, 1924, in Hillsboro, to the late Horace Floyd “Bud” and Maggie Sarah Wilson. At age 18 he entered the Army Air Force and served in the 232nd Medical Battalion Center Brigade.
He married Doris Nell Clymer in Hillsboro on November 2, 1946, and enjoyed almost 66 years of marriage, residing in Hillsboro until 1973 and then moved to Lake Whitney where they enjoyed their latter years together.
Weldon was a partner with his father in Wilson Plumbing Company in Hillsboro until the end of 1982 and then served as Hill County Veterans Service Officer for 23 years until 2006. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #4 and served as Commander and various other offices both locally and in district 6.
He served as Chief of the Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1962 and l963 and was a member from 1945 until 1973 when he moved to Lake Whitney.
Weldon was known as PaPa and for being a role model of a father and husband. His undying love of his wife and family was an example for all to live up to.
He is preceded in death by his son, Edwin Steve Wilson, his parents, and three brothers Floyd, Roy and H.F., Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; his two daughters, Diane Pollock and husband Danny of Grandview, and Nancy Shaw and husband, Don of Peoria, and daughter-in-law, Shelia Wilson of Hillsboro; twelve grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson and husband Scott, of Hillsboro, Johnny Wilson and Lupe Munoz of Lake Whitney, Kristi Meehan and husband, James of Alvarado, Jason and Angela Cromeans of Cleburne, Cari Pennington and husband, Rick of Grandview, Brian Pollock and wife Glenna of Grandview, Jamie Fallon and husband, Jeff of Oklahoma City, Ginger Bruyn and husband, Severyn of Lake Whitney, Scott Neal and wife Jennifer of England, Marcus Shaw of Waco, and Rachael Haire and husband, Allan of Peoria, and Alex Shaw and wife Jennifer of Florida; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Rue of Carrollton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
