Wendell Clifford Morgan, 82, of Abbott, Texas passed away Monday, February 7, 2005, in Abbott, Texas. Mr. Morgan was born March 16, 1922 in Abbott, Texas the son of Benjamin C. and Blanche Bruce Morgan. He attended school in Abbott. On September 27, 1942 he joined the U. S. Army at Camp Walters and was discharged on January 31, 1946 in Tyler. Wendell served in the Medical Detachment at Camp Gruber Oklahoma during this time. On May 27, 1944 he married Willie Loyce Stone in Waco. A farmer and rancher all of his life, he also worked for General Tire & Rubber Company for 30 years retiring December 1, 1977. He also worked for Bob Tufts at the Abbott Quick Stop for 22 years and for Charles and Dick Blain managing cattle for six years. Wendell was a life time member of the Abbott United Methodist Church in Abbott, the Polled Hereford Association, and the West Longhorn Club. He was also a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, Central Texas Horse Show Association, and the Hill County Roundup Club. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Billy Morgan. Survivors include his wife, Willie Loyce Morgan of Abbott; two daughters, Shirley Finch and husband, Mike, of Early and Sharon Campbell and husband, Hank, of Bynum; three brothers, Earl Glenn Morgan and wife, Susie, of Abbott, Bennie Morgan and wife, Maureen, of Abbott, and Donald Lee Morgan and wife, Ella, of West; three sisters, Margie Smith of Hillsboro, Pauline Etter and husband, Livy, of Abbott, and Mary Mae Russell and husband, Morris, of Abbott; a sister-in-law, Mozelle Morgan of Hillsboro; two grandsons, Scott Finch and wife, Nycole, of Bangs and Shane Campbell of Bynum; and one granddaughter, Angie Campbell of Bynum.
