Wesley Brackin, age 93, of Itasca passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018, in Itasca. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church in Itasca with Rev. Diane Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Itasca Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2018, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Born October 5, 1924, in Axtell, he was the son of Alvin John and Birdie (Johnson) Brackin. He was raised in Itasca and graduated from Itasca High School in 1942. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Sargent from November 4, 1942 to October 16, 1945. On December 8, 1945, he was united in marriage to Rose Marie Whitfield in Itasca. Wesley went to work for Hill County Electric as a lineman, an assistant manager, and a crew foreman, retiring after 44 years of service.
Wesley enjoyed woodworking and refereeing football. He was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He also served on the Itasca ISD School Board.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Mamie Dollar.
Survivors included his wife, Rose Marie Brackin, of Itasca, his children, David Wesley Brackin and wife, Karen, of Itasca, and Regi Wayne Brackin and wife, Sandra, of Arlington; three grandchildren, David Wayne Brackin and wife, Martha, of Itasca, Alaina Sue Aday and husband, Jeff, of Midlothian, and Michael Scott Brackin and wife, Hannah, of Bryan; eight great-grandchildren, Gillian Rose and Hannah Ruth Brackin, both of Itasca, Farryn Nichole and Adalynn Paige Aday, both of Midlothian, and Kase Michael, Katie Hill, Myles Wayne, and Macey Rose Brackin, all of Bryan.
