Wesley Gene Miller, 85, of Whitney, passed away on May 11, 2015, at Town Hall Estates.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Mr. Bruce Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Wesley was born in Hill County on May 10, 1930, to John Wallace and Ada Leona (Davis) Miller. During the Korean Conflict, he served his country in the U. S. Army. After his military service, he went to work in Hillsboro for John Askew and trained in sheet metal fabrication. During the 1950's he helped to build the Whitney Dam.
He moved to Houston and worked for Haliburton and while still working for Haliburton, he returned to Whitney in 1977 and worked at the Nuclear Power Plant in Glen Rose before retiring in 1985.
On January 19, 1950, he married Zanonia “Dell” Hornsby in Whitney. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, especially country and western music. Wesley was a member of Hillsboro Masonic Lodge # 196 and the Whitney Church of Christ.
Preceding him in death were his parents; 2 sisters and 6 brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Dell Miller of Whitney; daughter, Tammie Dollison and husband, David of San Angelo; son, Timothy Miller of Dalhart; three grandsons, Elijah Hull, Noah Miller and Jonah Miller, all of Amarillo.
