Wilburn "Larry" Chance, Sr, 91 of Clifton, passed away on October 4, 2016, in Clifton. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, October 7, 2016, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Rev. Charles Jordon of Harvest Time Pentecostal Church in Arlington officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, October 6, at the funeral home.
Larry was born on June 20, 1925, in Morrilton, Arkansas, to John and Rosa Bell (Pearson) Chance. He grew up in Arkansas and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, in 1946, he moved to Houston and worked as a machinist for many years.
A member of Harvest Time Pentecostal Church of Arlington, he was a very religious man and loved gospel music. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking.
Preceding him in death were his parents; five brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Chance of Clifton; children, John Chance and wife, Darlene, of Porter, Wilburn Chance, Jr and wife, Cathy, of Whitney, Robert Chance of Conroe, Randy Chance and wife, Jackie, of Penelope and Mark Martin of Valley Mills; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Stacy Blanton of Clifton and Merle and Roland Mantooth of Whitney; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
