Wilfred "Wootsie" Sunnarborg

Wilfred “Wootsie” Clarence Sunnarborg, 77 of Whitney passed away on September 20, 2011 in Whitney.

Graveside services will be held at noon on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:00 AM, Friday at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Wilfred was born on May 25, 1934 in Thompson Township, MN., the son of the late Clarence and Ellen ( Huikka) Sunnarborg. On December 31, 1981 he married Betty Lou Bjorken and she preceded him in death on February 5, 2006. He had worked for Western Electric Phone Company as an installer for 35 years. A little over 20 years ago he moved from Minnesota to Whitney. Wootsie enjoyed woodwork and crafts, piddling in the garage working on all sorts of things and loved doing anything he could to help his neighbors. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Betty all over and especially enjoyed going to South Padre Island at Christmas time. He was an honorary life member of Communications Workers of America. He was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Also preceding him in death was his son, David Sunnarborg and step- daughter, Jill Galloway.

Survivors include his daughters, Wendy McKibbon and husband, Scott of Cloquet, MN., Joni Clark and husband, Michael of Carlton, MN., step- sons, David Krueger of Texas, Mark Krueger of Whitney; brother, Gerald Sunnarborg and wife, Pat of Esko, MN.; 6 grandchildren, Maria, Krystal, Sean, Colton, Melissa and Lacey; 5 step- grandchildren, Cody, Vince, Dustin, Dru and Logan; numerous great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
