William Noel Brown, 100, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019, at Wesley House in Hillsboro surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2019, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Nancy Schusler and Pastor Kevin Diggs officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery near Hubbard. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, at the funeral home.
William was born April 20, 1919, near Hubbard, the son of Noel Wesley Brown and Nillie Gray Brock Brown. As a young man, William attended school at Corsicana and Bosqueville. In 1935, his family moved to Irene and he later graduated from Irene High School. While attending Irene High School, William met his high school sweetheart Loree Motley and they were later married. The couple celebrated 81 years of marriage this year.
William served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He did field artillery and was proficient with Morse Code. For twenty years, he worked as a bus mechanic and bus driver for Bynum ISD.
William loved sports, especially baseball. He played on the Irene High School team and later for the Irene “Outsider” team, who played at Katy Park in Waco many times. He also loved farming which he did all of his life. A very competitive player against family and friends, William enjoyed a good game of “42" dominoes.
William is survived by his loving wife, Loree Brown; daughter, Barbara Loveless and husband, Ray; two sons, Larry Brown and wife, Julia, and Ronny Brown and wife, Pam; seven grandchildren, Kathy Loveless, Darrel Loveless, Mike Loveless and wife, Nikia, Paige Brown, Kyle Brown and wife, Julie, William C. Brown, and Lesleigh Smith and husband, Tommy; and ten great-grandchildren, Reagan McCurlie and husband, Bob, Michelle Martinez and husband, Esteban, Lindsey Lockhart, Donovan Brown, Kaitlynn Brown, Kasen Loveless, Kaleb Loveless, Natalia Loveless, Gavin Smith, and Liam Smith.
The family would like to thank the Wesley House staff and Amedisys Hospice for their love and care of William.
