William (Bill) Everette Burris

William (Bill) Everett Burris (82) a devoted and loving husband, was called by the Lord on May 12, 2024, after battling a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of twenty years Marcella (Marcie), brothers Ray of Lusby, MD, and Ron of Richland, MI, stepchildren Garry Mains of Sellersville, PA and Sherry Miller, (son-in-law David Pulling) of Morgan, TX, grandchildren Lauren of Quakertown, PA, Abigail, Carley, and Amanda of Perkasie, PA, his dog Codie and host of other friends and relatives across the country including Marcie's stepson Dale Mains and his wife Suzie of Latrobe, PA and their 4 children and 7 grandchildren who Bill had grown close to. He is preceded in death by his parents Dean and Irean Burris, brothers Larry, Dean Jr., Don, sister Louetta, and his first wife Connie.

Born January 11, 1942, Bill graduated from Plymouth Illinois High School in 1960, studied at Western Illinois University, thereupon joining the United States Air Force with an honorable discharge in 1966 as Staff Sargent. He later worked for many years for Raytheon as a Project Manager.

Bill was known and will always be remembered as a gentle, caring, and thoughtful person, who loved his family. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, scouting, and high school basketball and baseball. Being the next to the oldest in a family of 7, he was loyal, trustworthy, kind, and obedient, making him a welcome helper to his mother with his younger siblings.

Once an avid golfer, after marrying Marcie, her love of the ocean was infectious to him and thus began years of trading the golf driver for driving Marcie to Destin, Florida every October. On one of the last trips, he was able to make, Bill fondly recalled to all who knew him, their stops at Peg Leg Pete's, The Back Porch, and how watching the dolphins brought him and Marcie such joy.

Bill was devoted to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His unwavering faith and his work with White Bluff Chapel Missionary brought him great peace in his final days.

He will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 24, 2024, at White Bluff Chapel, 1072 White Bluff Drive, Whitney, Texas 76692.
