William Dunn

William “Bill” Dunn, 88, of Arlington passed away Monday, January 7, 2013, at Arlington Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, at Smith-Bend Coon Creek Cemetery in Bosque County with Dr. Allan Lane officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the graveside at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, at Edge Park United Methodist Church in Fort Worth.

Bill was born January 20, 1924 in Whitney to Robert Marvin and Jeraline (Boiles) Dunn. He grew up in Whitney and started his education at the Red Point school and later graduated from Whitney High School. In May of 1943, he entered the United States Army Air Force and served through February of 1946. On December 24, 1946, he married Mary Oree Harris in Hillsboro and she preceded him in death on May 15, 2009.

Bill attended Baylor University, graduating in 1949. After school, the couple lived in Waco and Temple for a few years before settling in Fort Worth. He worked at Swift and Company before pursuing a banking career with First National Bank of Fort Worth in June of 1956. Over 24 years later, he would retire as Vice President and Trust Officer in December of 1980. Not content to take it easy, Bill became a real estate broker with Grable Real Estate where he continued to work from 1980 through 1989.

A very active person, he enjoyed water skiing and playing bridge. He was a charter member of Edge Park United Methodist Church in Fort Worth and past member of the Texas Cattle Ranchers Association.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; son, Ron Dunn; brother, Robert “Buster” Dunn and sister, Ella Wanda “Sis” Burt.

Survivors include his daughter, Melanie Copeland and husband, Ralph, of Arlington; brother, Garrey Dunn and wife, Carolyn, of Hurst; two grandchildren, Chris Copeland of Bedford and Amber Jackson and husband, Paul, of Fort Worth; one great-granddaughter, Rory Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
