William Sanford “Peppie” Futch Jr. 85, of Whitney passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in Clifton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. Officiating will be Dr. Gerald Dudley of the Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory, near Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M Friday, June 17, 2016 at the funeral home.
William was born on March 14, 1931 in Louisanna, to William S. and Lena (Bearden)
Futch Sr. He was raised in West Monroe, La. He married Linnie Mae Forbus on January 17, 1954, in New Mexico, she preceded him in death on August 10, 2001. William moved to Texas in 1954, living in Olney and Bridgeport where he raised his family and was a self-employed truck driver. Retiring from truck driving in 1989, he moved to Whitney, where he owned and operated Kountry Karpets for 5 years. William served his country in the United States Air Force.
Preceding him in death were his parents, son, Teddy Futch on May 6, 1956, daughter, Deborah Ross on March 8, 2006, brothers, Thomas Futch, Edward Cole, Levert Cole and Jesse Futch.
Survivors include daughter, Sharon Nisbet and husband, Alan of Whitney, brothers, James Futch and wife Dorothy of West Monroe La., Donald Futch and wife Bobbie of Haughton, La. , Bruce Futch and wife Teresa of Point Willhite, La.; sister, Bertha Jean Elee and husband Roy of Cadeville La.; sisters-in- law, Darleen Cole of Farmersville, La., Peggy Futch of Cadeville, La.; grandchildren, Robby Wood and fiancé Jessica Maddox, Denise Callaway and husband Greg, Little Bill West and wife Mel, Angie Bean and husband John and Jennifer West; great-grandchildren, Mitchell Wood and fiancé Marissa, Kaylann Wood, Ashley Callaway, Colton Callaway and wife Kodi, Dillon Callaway, A .J. Buck and wife Kaley, Gavin Bean, Dayton Bean, Will West, Kanen West, Annabelle Hegstrom and William Hegstrom; great-great-grandchildren, Layton Rocha, Delaney Wood and Kaybree Wood.
