William Gibson


William Michael "Mike" Gibson died on October 28, 2004 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple at the age of 62 after a short illness. Mike was born on October 4, 1942 in Amarillo, Texas to W. W. Duck and Ruth Gibson. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mike graduated in 1961 from Tascosa High School in Amarillo where he excelled in golf on the 1961 Rebel's State Qualifying Team. He graduated with a BA from the University of Oklahoma in 1965. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Social Fraternity at Oklahoma. He was an avid sports fan and especially for the Oklahoma Sooner football team. He married Nancy Draper on December 11, 1968 in Amarillo. They recently retired to White Bluffs near Whitney where they had completed their "ideal" retirement home. Nancy survives Mike. Mike was an independent sales representative to garment and sportswear manufactures for many successful years. He was a member of the First Community Church and active Big Brothers organization in Dallas. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gibson; sister, Mary Sue Morris; Phoebe and Coyt Webb, sister-in-law and husband; Linda and Charles Draper, brother-in-law and wife; John Victor Cline, Harold Fincher and Gerald Gibson, cousins; Andrea Pembroke and Cara Covinfton, nieces; Cody Webb, Cole Webb and Kyle Draper, nephews; and four great nieces and three great nephews. He is also survived by lifelong friends, Bob Wood and Jim Pavlonnis. Mike will be missed by all of his friends and family. The family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice in Mike's name in lieu of flowers.
