William Girard, Sr

William C. Bill Girard, Sr., 84, of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2009. Bill Girard was born July 26, 1924, in West, Texas, the son of the late W. J. Bill Girard and Julia Beseda Girard. He graduated from West High School in 1942 and joined the U. S. Army Air Corp. On March 3, 1945, he married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Greenhill Girard, in Macon, GA. After discharge from the service, he continued serving for the next 32 years in Federal Service, progressing from an entry-level clerk typist position, to one of the highest levels of responsibility attainable in government service. He received numerous awards and decorations for exceptional and meritorious service throughout his career. Bill retired in 1979 and was recognized in the Congressional Record with A Tribute to Bill Girard
