William (Billy) Hayes

William (Billy) Hayes, 74, of Hillsboro passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on March 24, 2022, from pancreatic cancer.  There are no services scheduled at this time.

Billy was born in Hillsboro on December 17, 1947, to George Edward Hayes and Vanita (Nea) Sweeney Hayes.  He was raised in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School and Hill Jr College. He was avid in sports and was inducted into the Hillsboro High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

He stayed in Hillsboro is entire life. He worked at Certain Teed for 20 years and Mrs Baird for 34 years.  He loved working on his home that was built by his late grandparents and being busy outside.  He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Donna Rose, on December 11, 1981, and had 40 years together along with numerous fur babies. His best friend, Buddy (one of his fur babies), was by his side at all times. He always told Buddy to take care of mom when he wasn’t home. Buddy has a big job now.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Ronnie and David Hayes.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Hayes of Hillsboro; daughters, Kelli Hudson and husband, Eric, of Woodbury, Kristi May and husband, Richie, of Whitney, Kerri Kaluza and husband, Justin, of West, and Kassi Santoy and husband, Ricky, of Ore City; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and special friends and neighbors, Tony and Lettie and their children, Chris and Lilly, who were like grandchildren to him.
