William Ralph “Billy” Mooney, Jr., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 20, 2017. Private services are under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.
Billy was born on December 14, 1969, in Dallas, to William Ralph and Cheryl (Penny) Mooney. In 1988, he graduated from Mesquite High School and entered into the auto body repair business. From there he went on to become an auto damage insurance adjustor.
Active in his church, he served as head deacon, song leader, youth leader and adult Sunday school teacher.
A loving and great father to his children, Billy was looking forward to his first grand-baby due in late January. He loved children and would have enjoyed being a Papa.
Preceding him in death was his father; grandparents, Howard and Betty Mooney, Avis Mooney, Uel and Berniece Bruner and Mae Penny.
He is survived by his former wife of 20 years, Kimberly Mooney, of Whitney; twin daughters, Brittney Mooney of Whitney and Danielle Mooney of Hillsboro; mother and step-dad, Cheryl Flores and husband, Rudy, of Whitney; two sisters, Hollie Cantrell and husband, Keith (Billy’s best friend), of Forney; Christie Patton and husband, Nick, of Dallas; grandfather, Harold Penny of Balch Springs; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to name. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
