William Thomas (W.T.) Whitworth, 93, went to be with his heavenly father on July 25, 2019. There will be a private memorial for family to celebrate William’s life.
William was born on July 24, 1926, to George Jack Whitworth and Bertha Mae (George) Whitworth in Denton, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Then he married Minnie Violet Shelton on June 10, 1946. Together they had 11 children. For many years he worked in the construction field including working for REA and TP&L as a lineman. He enjoyed working on automobiles, fishing, and going to Montes Restaurant in Whitney to visit and drink coffee. He was also very fond of his dog, Jake.
William was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years; his parents; his sister, Opal Walters; and brothers, H. Wallace Whitworth, Denver Brewer, and Jerry Whitworth. Additionally preceding him in death were two daughters, Paula Yvonne Whitworth and Deborah Lynn Sansing; one granddaughter, Sarah Deibler; as well as a daughter-in-law, Linda (Bills) Whitworth.
He is survived by his children, Wayne and wife, Donna of Whitney; Glen of Rhome; Robert and wife, Linda of River Oaks; Elaine Deibler of Waco; Cynthia and Daniel Anderson of Robinson; Nina and Greg Lippe of Robinson; Martin and wife, Cheryl of Hillsboro; Teresa and Thomas Monahan of Euless; and Timothy of Whitney. He is also survived by a son-in-law, Gerald Sansing of Corpus Christi; 21 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Hill Regional Hospital and Providence Hospice for the excellent care they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local veteran’s organization or charity of your choice.
