William (Bill) Gayle McGinnis, age 77 of Clifton, Texas passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023, at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 14, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Whitney with Pastor Jay Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Scurry, Texas. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, January 13, 2023, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney.
Bill was born July 20, 1945, in Gorman, Texas to Gayle and Hazel (Ware) McGinnis. He was born the son of a peanut farmer, working on the farm until he graduated college. Bill was a good and faithful son always trying to please his parents. In his earlier years, God gave him 2 wonderful children, whom he loved very much. Bill was united in marriage on November 26, 1977, to Linda McGinnis, and he became the father figure to my three children. He was a good father to all five of the children.
Bill spent many years working for electric cooperative retiring from his last cooperative, CoServ. Electric in June 2003, as General Manager & CEO. His employees found him a good and understanding boss whom they revered. He was an excellent General Manager. Bill loved the lord and was a faithful servant to Him. He loved me as his wife and always wanted me nearby. Through the years we were hardly ever separated, and we grew closer and closer with each passing year. He was a kind gentle husband, always attempting to put me first before the thought of himself.
On January 8, 2023, he went home to be with his Lord and Savior. His race was run, and I believe he heard Jesus say well done my good and faithful servant. He planted the seeds of love for those that knew him. Bill will be missed so much.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gayle and Hazel McGinnis, and brother, Bruce McGinnis.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda McGinnis; children, David McGinnis and wife Laurie, Christie (McGinnis) Grizzle, Royce Owen and wife Lisa, Debbie Caughran, and Shawn Powell; brother, Bob McGinnis and wife Carrie; niece, Lacy Kastler; and 2 nephews, Jeff and John McGinnis: grandchildren, Will McGinnis and wife Megan, Annie (McGinnis) Watson and husband Kenny, Camryn Stewart, Misty (Owen) Patty and husband Greg, Justin Owen and wife Kristen, Joshua Caughran, Jacob Caughran, Clay Powell, Jack Powell, and Garrett Powell; great grandchildren; Harper McGinnis, Caleb Scott, Connor Patty, Colton Patty, Zane Owen, and Addison Owen.
