William "Bill" Nelson, 83, of Whitney, Texas, passed away on June 27, 2023. A memorial service to honor Bill's life will be held on Monday, July 3rd, at 10:00 am at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, 201 North Bosque Street Whitney, Texas.
Born on November 19, 1939, in Lawrence, Kansas, Bill was a loving and hardworking man who deeply cherished his family.
Bill's love for the outdoors led him to work as a fishing guide for many years. In his later years, he found joy in feeding the deer at Loafers Bend alongside his beloved wife, Jean. As a local building contractor, Bill left a lasting legacy in the Whitney area through the construction of numerous homes and businesses. He had a knack for working with his hands and always had an ongoing project. Bill's dedication to his community extended beyond his profession, as he served as a City Councilman and volunteered as a firefighter.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jean, and their four children: Terry Nelson (Leigh) of Houston, Harold Sinclair (Susan) of Whitney, Loretta Stuart (Jerry) of Burleson, and Donna Lummus of Egan. He was also a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and had many great-grandchildren. Bill's family and friends, both immediate and extended, will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim "Sunshine" Nelson, his grandson, Dakota Sinclair, his brother, Robert Nelson, and his cherished dog, Cinnamon.
The family kindly requests that any charitable donations be made to St. Jude's Hospital in Bill's name. Bill had a generous spirit and believed in supporting causes that made a difference in the lives of others.
Please join us as we celebrate the remarkable life of William "Bill" Nelson and remember the legacy he leaves behind.
