Willie Mae Kennedy, 102, of Hillsboro passed away Friday morning, August 7, 2015, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Danny Gilliam and Rev. Lonnie Erwin officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Willie Mae was born May 13, 1913 in Aquilla to Samuel and Hattie Birdie (Farquhar) DeShazo. She grew up in Dallas and graduated from high school there. On August 16, 1946, she was united in marriage to Robert Roy Kennedy in Dallas. For 37 years, she was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a secretary in the medical department. While living in Dallas, Willie Mae was a longtime member of Grace Temple Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. For the past 20 years, she had resided in Hillsboro where she was a member of First Baptist Church. Willie Mae and Robert loved traveling in their Airstream together. She also liked to sew, knit, and play dominoes in her spare time. She was a past President of the North Texas Airstream Community and also a member of the Southwestern Bell Pioneer Club and NTAC Ladies Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband on February 21, 2004; two brothers, Carl DeShazo and Donald DeShazo; two sisters, Grace Watson and Lois Cooper; and three nieces.

Survivors include numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and more numerous great-great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 271, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
