Wilma Lee Varnon, 81, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Wilma was born September 24, 1924 in the Files Valley Community in Hill County, Texas the daughter of Lee and Fannie Mae Cummins Halbert. On June 13, 1942 she married Boyd Varnon in Hillsboro. A member of First United Pentecostal Church in Hillsboro, Wilma was a homemaker who loved to embroidery. Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Willie Lee Varnon; a grandson, Michael Prescher; five brothers; and five sisters. Survivors include her husband, Boyd Varnon of Hillsboro; children, Kenneth Varnon and wife, Ruby, of Burleson, Doris McNutt and husband, Tom, of Whitney, and Barbara Prescher Jeffress and Jerry Varnon both of Hillsboro; two brothers, Hoise Halbert and wife, Nita, of Livingston and Howard Halbert of Cleburne; sister, Reva Oliver of Burleson; nine grandchildren, Gary Atchison and wife, Cheryl, of Hillsboro, Kristine Martin and husband, Rick, of Whitney, Teresa Perry and husband, John, of Fort Worth, Larry Morgan and wife, Cindy, of Granbury, Kimberly Gillman and husband, Dirk, of Burleson, Kevin Prescher of Bryan College Station, Lori Banas and husband, Darryl, of Waco, and Mandolin Varnon and Ryan Varnon both of Hillsboro; and 14 great-grandchildren.
