Wilma Walker

Wilma Lois Walker, age 96, passed away peacefully at home November 28, 2009. She was born August 19, 1913 in Woodbury, Texas, the sixth of eleven children. At the time of her death she resided in Deer Park, Texas with her youngest daughter. Devoted mother and grandmother, Wilma was the consummate preacher's wife. She and her husband, Rev. R.W. Walker, served appointments for 41 years in the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church and another 7 years in the Texas Conference. When they retired, Hillsboro, Texas became their home. After the death of her husband, she moved to the Rio Grande Valley of Texas where she lived with her eldest daughter for over 20 years. Wilma's grace and devotion to her faith, family, and friends were surpassed only by the quality of the food that she prepared, legendary to all those who had the opportunity to partake of it. She also loved to play the piano and sing and made sure that both of her daughters learned to play as well. She was active in community and church service and gained recognition as a hospital volunteer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Delilah Stinson; her husband of over 50 years, R. W. Walker; all seven of her brothers, Raymond, Milton, Jack, Gene, Herbert, Jim, and Royal Stinson; three beloved sisters, Frances Brady, Marie Rhea, and Norma Ellison; great-granddaughter Hannah Neff; son-in-law Pat McNallen; and her four best friends who were like sisters to her, Mary Jackson, Marguerite Ross, Margaret Fife, and Doris Crane. She is survived by her daughters Ann McNallen-Makowski and husband Ed of Mission, Texas, and Susan Graham and husband David of Deer Park, Texas; grandchildren Pam Albrecht and husband Kim, Karen McNallen, Dale McNallen and wife Linda, Dean McNallen and wife Shelley, Jay Neff and wife Leslie, Christy Jaime and husband Darren, Joyce Schmutzer and husband Drew, and Alex Graham; thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
